We are proud to be in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL), encouraging a love for the sport of swimming in a fun, supportive environment. Our swimmers range from ages 4 to 18, the Dolphins goal is to support swimmers of all ages and abilities in improving their swimming technique while fostering team camaraderie and demonstrating enthusiastic good sportsmanship. Our Dolphin spirit makes this the best swim club in the NVSL!
Our swim season is short and fast, running from Memorial Day to the end of July. NVSL scored “A” meets are held on five consecutive Saturday mornings and Developmental “B” meets on Monday evenings. There is a Division Championship meet and individual All-Star meet toward the end of the season. There are also relay-only Divisional and All-Star meets, held on two consecutive Wednesdays in July. We also host a Lollipop meet during the season, for our Little Dolphins to show off their improved swimming skills.
In addition, there are many social activities for all team members and their families including weekly team breakfasts, pep rallies, ice cream socials, team lunches after meets, and an end of season banquet to celebrate every Dolphin.
To be a member of the swim team, your family must own a LBSRC membership and meet other Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) criteria.
Having fun is an important part of our summer swim program. We believe that by establishing a healthy environment that encourages the kids to do their best, recognizes their contributions and is fun for the entire family, we will have met our goals.
The mission statement of the NVSL is: To develop in the children affected by this program — a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship
We are actively recruiting for more officials, including Stroke and Turn, Clerk of Course, Chief Timer, Relay Take Off, etc. Please seriously consider participating in the training as we cannot host meets without have a full deck of officials. Many thanks to those who already have agreed to be an official.
If you have any questions or can volunteer, please contact Allison Hagner at allisonhagner@gmail.com.
Long Branch is a terrific team and we have many folks willing to chip in for the benefit of our swimmers and families.
We are looking for several volunteers for the season, so please keep that in mind this summer. These jobs are critical for the running of our team, but are also very fulfilling.
Thanks and Go Dolphins!
